The start of the season came in early April, and we visited the Biblical Open Air Museum (BOM) together with Corbvlo. One of our tasks however was to take posing shoots for Graham Sumner's next book. And here we are: Just one week later, we had some very good Easter weather and the opportunity to be at the Fectio tower when they had the big machinery in to do work on the nearly-ready roof. With the tower as a backdrop we did more posing shots: At the opening of the tower on May 16th we did three more. Andreas now has a hamata of his own:
These pictures were taken at Archeon during the Roman Days in August. I did finally match Andreas and finished my new tunic (with 200+ hours of sewing) which resembles the rich clothing of the Late Roman soldier. Besides that, we finished our new dished shields, which are much closer to the original scutum of the 4th and 5th centuries. Andreas designed the slightly altered painting of the facing wolves that are the design of our unit. Archeon was the first event where we could display all of that, and more. At last, the summer pause being over, we returned to the tower at Vechten. And with another new item - Andreas is now the proud owner of a Deurne helmet!
