We were invited to do a bit of promotion for Fort Vechten at a location in Wijk bij Duurstede, an old town by the river. Once there was a Roman fort here (Levefanum), and later a Carolingian settlement of great renown (Dorestad). Too bad the modern council has no warm feelings towards their own past.

For we were alotted a spot which can be rightly called a grand disaster. There had been some building here years ago, but now the site was barren - sand, weeds, heaps of stone, we even had to cut a fence just to get in. No publicity had been made, so we literally had to pull the people off the street to get some participants. The idea was that children could shoot with water balloons, and the best 3 teams would get to do a final the next day. But all in all there were about 15 people we could get interested.

Well, there was tinme enough to mend the hamata, to test the franciscas and to deploy our newest gimmic - the draco.
