Andreas went to see the Legion on the first day, in his civvies, which attracted some comment about him being out of his 'regular' clothes.. The day was dry, which was quite a change for the past week!

Day 1 - Thursday

Shooting with the scorpio, the field artillery of Legio II Augusta.

Later in the afternoon, the games - and lo! the Emperor is attending!

.. then the trainees..

..then the proper gladiators!

Finally, a match to the death, what we all came here for, didn't we? Well, didn't we? And of course, the blood was spilled.

To conclude the day, in more contemplative places, an offering is made to our goddess Nehalennia.

Day 2 - Saturday

Fectio is present in full strenght!

..well, he was a beggar, what did you expect? Of course we pelted him with mud and the remains of our food.

Ooh, she was a nasty one! A barbarian she-wolf or something, I couldn't quite make out what the presentator said.

While behind the scenes there was some nasty business between the female barbarian and the beggar..

Meanwhile the favorite seems to be beaten..

It's a good thing the slave-holder had a strong leash!

"Are you not entertained?" We certainly were!

For the second day, the penultimate day of the presence of the Romans at Archeon, Fectio was present in full strenght, with Chariovalda/Andreas, Valerius/Robert (me), Ariana/Marrit and Bran/Jeroen (also called Hieronymus). We took the chance to finally relieve Godfrey from his lonely position as sole 4th-century Roman! The day was dry and warm, nice enough for some re-enaction, all the more because we did not have to join the drill.. The Gladiator show was again enjoyable, always a bit different from the year before. The Charon nearly killed someone.. Well, a bit. But his hammer created quite a stir amongst the first row!
