The evening before had been quite memorable, or so I heard when I arrived back in town that morning. There were talks of civilians living outside Archeon having alerted the police, something about a Briton singing... Well, we may never know the truth. No-one was arrested, anyway.

Saturday proved to be yet another hot day in a prolonged heatwave.

13.00-13.40 Parade through the entire park & Presentation in the Arena (all groups), followed by live missile firing outside the arena.

Today was my first command of a Late Roman troop, I was a bit nervous and forgot some commands.. But I think on the whole it went well enough. The high temperatures were a bigger problem. After the drill and the javelin-throwing we hastily looked for some shaGravis armatura - heavy infantryde.

Finally we turn into the arena for a bit of hot drill.. Afterwards, Andreas/Chariovalda shows the signs of hard labour.

14.00-14.30 Fashion Show: Roman Army from 200 BC to 400 AD (I Germanica)

No pictures yet, but hopefully soon.

15.00-15.30 The Cavalry training: the infantry form up in close ranks to be a practise target for the cavalry (all groups).

Gathering the troops on the field for the cavalry training. The boys running around to set the stage for the horse practise, the rest of us forming up.

Something went wrong during the training! Garrelt, who was driving his horse at us quite hard, broke his sword on Rob's shield - it snapped cleanly in two! Much to the sorrow of Mariken.. Garrelt was a bit surprised.
