The first groups had already arrived on Wednesday, but Thursday the rest of them arrived all through the day. The province Germania II was hit by a severe heatwave with temperatures reaching 35 degrees. Of course, the fine Her Majesty the empress Galla Placidia (Carme Rodriguez)weather meant a big improvement from last year's rain, but it also meant we would not be entertaining very many visitors. The trip from all corners of Europe to Archeon was not a light one.
All the way from Poland came Cezary Wyszinski and his friends, they had set up their store under the colonnade of the Bath Basilica.
From somewhat closer by the Minervii from northern Germany joined our motley Field Army and the Teuxandrii from our own province. Helge was already there and joined his fellow-provincials from Germania.
From even further the Catalan Septimani and the largest group to travel here, Legio I Germanica, which both drove for two days to get to our region of the Lower Rhine. With them had come the Empress of the Late Roman western empire, Her Majesty Galla Placidia (Carme Rodriguez), with her son the emperor Valentinian III (Sergi Ralita) and their Palatine ladies (Dolors Pinto and Susanna Sanchez) and bishop (
Quim Ripodas). They soon set up court in the building of the Roman town.

The Minervii, Septimani and I Germanica were the first to march through the town and the rest of the park. We decided that, since not all were present, we would use this day for practise, with most of us needing to unload. Testing the drill and what we would do with the rest of the event was left for the next day.

The Batavi also arrived from Britain, bringing a large group with some yound maiden.. The rest of day was used for making (re-)acquaintances, showing off new equipment and making plans for the rest of the event. Andreas and me had ordered new helmets from our Polish friends, which had to be shown off! Luckily sleeping arrangements were less of a problem this year - with 20 people below our total from last year there was plenty of room for all. The Minervii occupied the baths, the Teuxandrii had set up tents, the rest slept in the Domus.

Next day Friday, and the other groups arrive.
